Il comune di Almè, distante circa 8 chilometri da Bergamo, è collocato in zona pianeggiante (mt. 294 s.l.m.) sulla sponda sinistra del Brembo; nel 1596, quando è già un comune autonomo, è descritto come “…terra di qua dal Brembo in piano al piedi dei monti de Villa de Almè, confina fin a riva di Brembo” (Da Lezze). Questa definizione storico-geografica lo delinea nella sua attuale estensione, mentre in precedenza il territorio che lo ricomprendeva era molto più ampio.
